“If there was something I could eat everyday for the rest of my life, this burrito would be it.” –Mary
Yassss, feel free to quote me on that.
While David and I were having a good old chat to our AirBnB host about our first day in LA, he asked us if we like Mexican food. The answer to that was a very ecstatic yes. He told us that there was this place, that only locals knew about (not anymore, hehe) and it’s the best place to get a burrito in town. So the next day we popped in to grab a quick bite to eat before we went on to explore the rest of LA.
Cactus Taqueria #1 or Cactus One as it’s also known, is this tiny little place that only had an order window and a few tables and chairs. I mean, if you make great food, what more do you need? I ordered our AirBnB host’s recommendation which was the California Burrito which comes with meat, rice, beans, fries, onions, cilantro and sour cream. From a list on the menu, you get to pick what type of meat you wanted, I picked carnitas (fried pork). That first bite felt like my taste buds died and went to heaven.
Whether you’ve never tried Mexican food before or you’re crazy about it and you happen to be in America, according to some of the people we spoke to, the West Coast make great Mexican food. Sorry East Coast peeps! You guys make pretty great pizza, bagels and in my opinion, Shake Shack was the bomb diggity!
The Mexican food we had in Los Angeles, the Mission District in San Fran and all the way up to Seattle where my Aunt lives, were all just perf 👌.
It’s located on 950 Vine Street, Los Angeles if you want to Uber there and they only take payments in cash!
Have you ever been to Cactus #1 before or have heard about it? If you are a Mexican food fan like me, hit me up with some recommendations in the comments section below. 🙂 xx
