I know what you’re thinking, hot chocolate for tasty tuesday?! Whaaaat. I know, I know, just bear with me on this one. The weather here has actually been miserable, or great if you like rainy days, so I thought I’d make a cup of hot chocolate. I’ve been thinking of something to make for tasty tuesday all day and I was going to make something nice for breakfast then something came up so I ended up just having a quick bowl of cereal. Then I thought I’ll make something for lunch.. but then I fell asleep! Then we ended up going out for dinner at the local pub. I was about to give up when I thought most of my friends love the homemade hot chocolate I make so why not share this instead?
Just to let you know, this hot chocolate recipe is a good substitute to the hot chocolate you get from the café.. if not, maybe better. It’s so much better than just mixing hot water, cocoa and sugar then adding milk.
All you’ll need is cocoa – you can use any.. milo or ovaltine, I used cadbury drinking chocolate, milk, marshmallow is optional.
Fill your mug up with 2/3 of milk, so it doesn’t boil over. Pop it in the microwave for a good 3 minutes or just until the milk starts boiling. Make sure you keep an eye on it. Then mix 2-3 tablespoons of cocoa in. Pop some marshmallows in while it’s still hot so it melts nicely on top. It tastes just as good without the marshmallows.
